Stop Alien Abductions
"Results of the thought screen helmet exceeded expectations. Since January 2000 aliens have not taken any abductees while they were wearing thought screen helmets using Velostat shielding."

Pumpkin Wallpaper
Like my wallpaper? Get it from wincustomize.com. I'm looking forward to Halloween! We must get Jack a pumpkin (Jack-o-Lantern?)

Photo Archive
I've been tinkering with a few plugins to create a full gallery of all the images that have been posted to this blog. It's a little simplistic at the moment, but see it here. There's a permanent link in the archive section on the right.
Thanks to Brandon Fuller for this tweak. If it works out I'll have to donate a few quid to him.

Black Swan
Funky wildlife around here. There's also a water vole/rat running around my feet, but he's much harder to get a photo of.

A Bite
So nearly double figures. A 9.5lb common carp. One bite so far, and one fish.

Mirror Lake
A quiet afternoon's fishing (cos the fish ain't biting).

South West Implant Centre
Yeay! The client likes his website!

I've just a bit of polishing and bug fixing, and adding of smiley, happy people photos left to do. Next!
Cold and Wet
We had the first frost last night; well the car was frozen anyway. And the rain has followed. I'm going to freeze cycling home! Apparently it is snowing in Ebbw Vale.

Library
Jack went to the library yesterday and got his own library card!

WICC
We took Jack up to the climbing wall for the first time today. He stayed interested in his Dad's climbing for a couple of hours. It was a very sociable afternoon, with a fair few families and kids, plus a couple of mates.

Network
Apologies for the infrequent updates. Winsock2 got corrupted on my server, knocking me off the internet. Despite fixing that, the rest of the network was still screwed. I.e. you could see my website, but I couldn't see the rest of the internet. So I shelled out for a hardware router from Linksys which I have just installed. It took about 10 minutes, and with a bit of configuration for my website, all is well again.
That'll teach me for scrimping!
It's damned nice to have everything running properly again. I've been limited to dial up from my iBook for over a week. When stuff you rely on doesn't work properly it gets damned stressful!

Death Star Home Cinema
Ahhhhh. I just spent half an hour getting a tiny metal splinter out of my mouse clicking finger with a safety pin. Oh, that feels sooo gooood.
Anyhoo, Grubby sent me this top link:

Photo From Ele!
My lil sis sent me an email and a photo from Sri Lanka! Ele the elephant?

At The Park
A bumper load of photos today, partly because I haven't posted for two days, and partly because I know Ele will be checking this website from Singapore this week. These photos are all from today.

On The Swings
And then we went to Roath park to play on the swings and slides:

Jack at Lunch
Jack after lunch at the Bridgend retail outlet centre. We had his feet measured: size 3 and a half, G width. That's the size for most 14 month olds!

Breakfast TV
Dad's watching breakfast TV while the boy plays with his toys. He's always a happy boy first thing in the morning.

Velodrome
Gumby sent me this pic of the brand new Newport velodrome. Wow, a top class cycling stadium in South Wales. Everyone's loving it, and buying track bikes left, right and centre.

NTL Still Down
Rubbish. My NTL broadband connection has been down since Saturday, and unlike the service status website says, the problem has not been resolved. Other NTL broadband users in Cardiff are having the same problems. You can still see this website, but I can't get internet access from outside. I rang once, but after being on hold for an hour (yes, literally one hour) and then speaking to a really unhelpful tech I'm not ringing again. I'll send them a request for compensation by snail mail, I guess.
It's a very good job I'm not working on a website this week.

Here's a pic of him standing up against the sofa.

Jif: I Quit
I've had enough. I am stepping (a very big step) backwards from the Jif website. Obviously I am so out of touch with the club that I am incapable of operating as a webmaster in it's fullest sense. I will post no more news articles, no more race reports, no more photos and no more videos.
I will continue to maintain and moderate the site, but people can post their own news. I will not chase people up for race reports, photos, race results, agm reports, or race season info. I will not attend this winter's cross season to take photos and videos.
I'll try and create a gallery to which members can post their own photos, and this will take up a serious chunk of my time. However, once done, I won't have to add photos myself. Andy and Craig have been great at getting photos together, so it'd be cool for them to be able to post their own photos with their own captions.
This is your website. I have created it for you. Use it or lose it. I no longer care. If you want to post something to the Grind email me and I'll create a login for you to post it yourself.
My time is too precious and I'm getting too old for any more of this shit.

Ele the Elephant
My little sister has been washing and feeding baby elephants in Sri Lanka. I'm glad you're enjoying the blog, Ele!
Dear mum, dad, nick, vicky, sam, kim, cand and
everyone
Since the last mail we have been on a little adventure
traveling around Sri Lanka, doing the „Cultural‰
stuff. We hired a van along with a driver and guides
and headed up into the hill country. We drove through
all the tea plantations and had a cuppa or two, then
went to Kandy the main city inland. Here we went to
loads of temples and visited the ruins of the ancient
cities. We stayed in a mixture of places some better
than others!! Some with more bugs than you would care
to imagine (Ele wouldn‚t eat a thing at one place..
..but her napkin and the table we sat on were moving!)
We then hired a Jeep and driver and went on Safari ˆ
very good, saw a load of elephants (about 130). The
following day was the best so far, we visited an
elephant orphanage where Ele fed a baby elephant. We
both then went down to the river where we washed an
elephant with coconut shells. He then returned the
favour and gave us a shower with his trunk whilst we
sat on his back. He then trotted off and gave us a
short ride before we hand fed him his breakfast.
All in all a very Good trip. We are now in Negombo,
not the best place in Sri Lanka, but close to the
airport, as we fly to the Maldives on Saturday. All in
all Sri lanka has been great. Good weather,
surprisingly good food.. ..not losing the weight like
we thought we would! And met some great people, the
craziest thing is that whilst we were staying in a
small village in land we met a friendly Buddhist
family. It turned out that they have a brother working
on Lohifushi the atoll we visit next week, small
world!! So we are taking a letter for them (checked it
for drugs ˆ trust no one!).
everything is fine and we are both well. it is
suprising how qi\uick the time is going - been here a
month already, its unbelievable!! hope alls well at
home. keep us posted with jacks progress - cant
believe hes crawling and talking nearly! saw a photo
of him on sams site with hime sitting up in a shopping
trolley - hes a proper big boy now!
well, hope evryones well, and mum and dad hope you had
fun in scotland.
cand - hope alls going well with you know who -
missing you and our chats!
mum - i think that wierd white flower in the pot in
the garden is an Indian Trumpet Flower, we saw a
massive version in a botanical gardens here.
dad - hope the golfs going well.
nick - hope the business is taking off and the van is
back on the road
better go. will email after the maldives. love you all
loads and loads.
missin you, all our love
ele and lee

Mouse and Work
I got my new mouse the other day, and yes, it is superb. Possibly one of the best mice in the world. Gonna have to get one for work too.

Which is all a good job really since I seem to be getting more offers of web design work coming in. Nothing definate - a little bit of site management here, a possible tender there. This has gone from a one off for Bob to a bit of a small business. Which means I'm going to have to tell the taxman and speak to some accountant buddies....
Wow, who'd have thought it? Me and my brother both setting up separate businesses in the same year?
