Sandcastles
Jack & I spent the afternoon on the beach at Southerndown. Sandcastles, sea,
rock pools and room to run. Fun, fun, fun, but I fear we're a bit sunburnt!

Midweek Rain
I'm supposed to be boat fishing tomorrow in the Channel, but as you can see
from this photo its a bit wet. It looks as though it's going to be
cancelled, but I won't find out until this evening. Arse. We'll have to
plan a summer trip.

Revenge of the Sith
(Oh I bloody hope so).
OK, so the next Star Wars film is out in the middle of next month - not long now. I'm not expecting much from it, but none-the-less I will prepare myself in the proper way. I'll fall to my weaker side and actually order the Attack of the Clones DVD (I bet prices have gone up recently), and I've dusted off and hooked up the VCR for my original Star Wars videos (I'm still not pushed to buying the poxy DVDs, unless I find the time to edit out the objectional bits and make my own DVDs). I will not need to dust off the videos - they're not allowed to get dusty. I'll plan a weekend of watching all the films, with the gap for film 3 in the middle. Anyone want to join me? I wonder what an old VHS Empire Strikes Back will look like on a 42" screen...
Anyone got an old laser disc player and the Star Wars laser discs that they'd like to lend me?

Believe it or not, that black square is actually a bouldering wall on the beach.

Tiger Unleashed
Apple's latest version of their Mac OS X operating system, named Tiger, has been given a release date of just a couple of weeks away: Friday April 29th.
Although this is something I've been looking forward to, I can't say it seems to offer much that I want or need (unlike the last version, Panther, which gave superb improvements if you have a small notebook). I won't be shelling out £89 for an advance order. Instead I'll hang around and see how the other kids get on with it. They may find aspects other than the new search system (Spotlight) and widgets (Dashboard) more useful.
Quicktime 7 might prompt me, as it's rumoured to be at the heart of a future Mac based home media centre, and brings with it the H.264 codec that will be used in high definition movie media (HD-DVD, Blue Ray).

Sony patent takes first step towards real-life Matrix
Sony have patented a prophetic method of transmitting information directly to your brain. My next logical step would be to send information from your brain to a device. PDA in your head?
Check the New Scientist article.

Backing up
Back up, back up! These files will be archived to DVD too.
Mess
Cables everywhere, what a mess. When I move I'll rebuild my study. I need more space!

Annoyed
OK, so this is a little annoying. I want to get rid of some photos off the Powerbook onto DVDs to archive them to free up disk space. But I don't have enough free space. So I need to clear some disk space before I can archive. A typically circular problem.
Nowt
There's nothing to see here. Move along please.
